Meet Nimbus

Hi there, welcome to our first blog post!

Matt and I are excited to (re)introduce our startup, NimbusAI, and share what we've been up to. If you've helped us by providing customer feedback, sharing your developer experience, trying out our product, or making introductions - thank you so much! If we haven't met yet, thanks for your support, and we can't wait to connect! We’re thrilled to have all of you with us as we embark on this journey.

What's NimbusAI (today)?

Nimbus helps dev teams accelerate development velocity and enhance build quality by giving them a clear understanding of their entire system.

Modern dev teams manage complex, distributed architectures where even simple changes can have unexpected impacts. A lack of system visibility makes it hard to see the bigger picture, predict change effects, and make confident technical decisions. When your system grows beyond what any one person can fully grasp, you need tools that bring clarity to complexity. Nimbus provides:

  • Dynamic system visualization
  • Intelligent impact analysis
  • A streamlined and integrated technical design workflow

We enable teams to build with confidence and deliver with speed. Users can explore service relationships and get predictive insights into system changes, reducing time to ship and minimizing bugs. With Nimbus, your team can focus on building great features instead of piecing together system context.

How did we get here?

By talking to users and customers like you, of course! But it’s been a ride!

Most recently, we were focusing on automatic technical documentation so dev teams could always have precise, up-to-date, and easy-to-access tech documentation, without having to write it themselves. However, after working closely with our first customer, we reprioritized to focus on accelerated system understanding in design and development, which has proven to be a more urgent need. (Don't worry—we still have plans for the former!)

Our journey wasn’t straightforward. Our very first idea was a platform-as-a-service product with embedded AI agents designed to optimize infrastructure provisioning, development, and operational concerns, but we pivoted after failing to validate the problem with our target users. Next, we explored a tool to enforce structured  LLM outputs, but it didn’t align with our mission and was too early for the use cases we envisioned. Finally, we landed on what truly excites us: a fully automated tool to help dev teams connect the dots between features and code!

What's next?

Building more features, talking to more users, and getting more customers—the usual stuff!

We’re excited to share more updates with you next week. Our initial feature set has 15 active users, and we’ve begun developing our next set of features. Stay tuned for a walkthrough of what's coming! Also, we have a compelling case study in the works, showcasing the real-life impact of Nimbus.

How you can help us.

Your support means everything to us!

We're always looking to talk to more users and early partners to learn and improve. If you know someone who might be interested in chatting with us, we'd greatly appreciate an introduction. Our ideal customer profile is:

  • Role: Software Engineer (leader/manager/IC) with influence or decision-making power over tooling investments.
  • Company Type: Tech company or Series A-C startup implementing cloud-native applications that incorporate one or more of the following:
    • Microservices architecture
    • Serverless workloads or container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes)
    • Distributed application communication patterns (e.g. message queues, event buses, pub/sub systems)
  • Team Size: An engineering team with 8-80 members.

Thank you for your continued support!
